HandsOn South Alabama
Mobile, AL

HandsOn South Alabama strives to mobilize people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems.

HandsOn South Alabama’s role in the community is centered on our ability to:
• Connect people with the opportunity to serve
• Build the capacity for effective local volunteering
• Promote volunteering
• Participate in strategic initiatives that mobilize volunteers

HOSA recruits and trains volunteers and then matches them with volunteer opportunities in the community serving nonprofits in Mobile and Baldwin counties. Every dollar donated generates $5 in community services that better the lives of those in need.

Utilizing volunteers allows non-profit agencies to offset their operating costs and budget constraints while still having an impact on the community. The economic impact of volunteer service facilitated by HOSA is over $1 million annually; and the social impact is in the areas of education, environment, economic stability, emergency preparedness and health and human services.

With over 6,000 volunteers, HOSA collaborates with community partners to promote volunteerism, expand the impact of donor dollars and build capacity of the non-profit sector.

HandsOn South Alabama is the home of the Volunteer Guardian program which is the only program of its kind in the State of Alabama. The program recruits, screens and trains volunteers to serve as legal guardian for incapacitated individuals in collaboration with Mobile County Probate Court.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance provides free tax services to low income families by trained volunteers.

In order to support our volunteer projects, community partnerships, Citizen Academy and special events, HandsOn South Alabama must raise funds every year from individuals, companies and foundations.

HandsOn South Alabama does not charge our members to volunteer, we’re grateful to you for giving your time to help us meet critical needs in our community. However, our work needs financial support and we hope that you will consider becoming a friend of HandsOn South Alabama with a donation.

Also, consider speaking with your employer about matching your gift. Many companies participate in matching gift programs and we offer business membership, as well. It’s a great way to double, and sometimes even triple your impact.

HandsOn South Alabama is not verified as a 501(c)3 organization.
