Laramie River Valley Rendezvous unites 40 at-risk youth between the ages of 13 and 16 years with law enforcement officers for an annual one week camping trip in the Colorado Rocky Mountains where they gain confidence and self-esteem by participating in activities including whitewater rafting, horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking . Campers are referred by school counselors, resource or probation officers, mental health professionals and others, and are considered to be at-risk if they come from single parent or blended family homes or foster homes. The camp is free of charge to the campers, and the costs of $300 to $400 per camper are supported by community donations and grants.
