AIA Austin is holding its annual Homes Tour the weekend of October 2 – 3, 2010. This year marks the 24th anniversary of the self guided tour, which has earned a regional and national reputation. Tango Alpha Charlie: Texas Aviation Celebration at The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum celebrates 100 years of record-setting achievements, gravity-defying feats, and the soaring human spirit that drives our state's aviation history. This special exhibition tells the story of Texas aviators, designers, manufacturers, and services – past, present, and future. Included in the exhibit are 5 large scale models of aircraft including an AT-6 Texan, B-24 Liberator, Southwest Airlines Lone Star One, Mooney Acclaim Type S, a Bell V-22 Osprey, and a 1/2 scale Vought F-4U-4 Corsair. Visitors can try their hand at flying a Curtiss Jenny, an AT-6 Texan, and a Bell XV-3 tiltrotor helicopter through interactive video simulators. 3rd Annual Dripping with Taste Wine & food Festival is a great excuse to see what's going on in the booming area SW of Austin. The event is September 11 from noon-7pm at the Creekside Pavilion in Driftwood Texas—rain or shine. Grand Paris Texas, a film by Austin based artists Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler, is being screened on Thursday, September 9 at the Paramount Theatre. The event presented by Lora Reynolds Gallery in cooperation with the Austin Film Society and Arthouse at the Jones Center includes a post-film Q&A with the artists and Ned Rifkin, Director of the Blanton Museum of Art. Blurring the Lines: Public Art Re-Examined, a full-day symposium hosted by the City of Austin's Art in Public Places Program, will feature an intimate look at The High Line, the award-winning urban redevelopment project built on a section of a former elevated freight railroad spur in New York City, as well as presentations served up by the local creative community, and an interactive panel discussion with experienced public artists and arts administrators.
